The Last Chapters
In zijn (voorlopig) eeuwige zoektocht naar het Verhaal der Verhalen, attaqueert oerverteller Thomas Dudkiewicz zijn never ending story in zijn nieuwe solo The Last Chapters. Een existentiële, immersieve ervaring waarin een verhalenverteller in het hoofd duikt van de comateuze acteur ‘Thomas’, om hem in een laatste wanhoopspoging weer bij bewustzijn te brengen. De storyteller sleurt Thomas mee in een persoonlijke odyssee langs de rafelranden van de verbeelding en het Zelf. In het onderbewuste heerst chaos, in het verhalende huist orde. Maar het onderbewuste vecht terug. Een kosmische botsing op leven en dood.
Net als in Bedtime Stories speelt de soundscape een grote rol in de onderdompelende kracht van deze performance. Ditmaal maakt Dudkiewicz gebruik van een immersief geluidssysteem met binaurale (3D) audio. Een medium waarmee hij samen met sound designer Tomas Loos, die live het geluid aanstuurt, een nieuwe manier exploreert om ontelbare werelden op te roepen en het ultieme verhaal tot leven te brengen.

Dans sa quête (pour l'instant) éternelle du Récit des récits, le narrateur légendaire Thomas Dudkiewicz attaque sa story sans fin dans son nouveau solo The Last Chapters. C'est une expérience existentielle et immersive dans laquelle un narrateur plonge dans l'esprit de « Thomas », un acteur dans le coma, afin de le ramener à la conscience dans une dernière tentative désespérée. Le storyteller entraîne Thomas dans une odyssée personnelle aux frontières de l'imaginaire et du Moi. Le chaos règne dans son subconscient, tandis que l'ordre règne dans son récit. Mais son subconscient riposte. Un affrontement cosmique entre la vie ou la mort.
Tout comme dans Bedtime Stories, l'ambiance sonore joue un rôle majeur dans le caractère immersif de cette performance. Cette fois-ci, Dudkiewicz s’appuie sur un système audio immersif avec du son binaural (3D). Ce support lui permet, avec le concepteur sonore Tomas Loos qui gère le son en direct, d’explorer une nouvelle façon d’évoquer d’innombrables mondes et de donner vie au récit ultime.

In his (for now) never-ending quest for the Story of all Stories, storytelling legend Thomas Dudkiewicz tackles his own never-ending story in his new solo, The Last Chapters. An existential, immersive experience in which a storyteller dives into the mind of the comatose actor ‘Thomas’ in a final, desperate attempt to bring him back to consciousness. The storyteller draws Thomas into a personal odyssey along the edges of the imagination and the Self. Chaos reigns in the subconscious mind, whilst order reigns in the narrative. But the subconscious fights back. A cosmic clash on life and death.
Just as in Bedtime Stories, the soundscape plays a key role in the immersive power of this performance. This time, Dudkiewicz is using an immersive sound system with binaural (3D) audio. A medium through which he, together with sound designer Tomas Loos, who manages the sound live, explores a new way of evoking countless worlds and bringing the ultimate story to life.
