Lucius en Haider dansen een gesprek. Ze weten nog niet of het gaat eindigen in een duet of in een duel. Botsende meningen, misverstanden, gevoeligheden en frustraties liggen op de loer. Ze gaan de strijd aan met de wapens die ze hebben: hun woorden en de taal van dans. Ze luisteren, roepen en fluisteren in een beladen pas-de-deux. Hun moderator: een synthesizer die hun stemmen versterkt, overstemt of in harmonie brengt. Eén ding is zeker: geen van beiden gaat weg voor het gesprek ten gronde gevoerd is. Voor ze elkaars golflengte hebben gehoord en gevoeld. Omdat het nodig is.
Omdat het vandaag fucking nodig is.
Wavelength is de theatrale uitwerking van een echt gesprek tussen Haider Al Timimi en Lucius Romeo-Fromm over onze gepolariseerde wereld. De ene kwam in België terecht vanuit Irak, de ander vanuit de Verenigde Staten. Ze deelden hun bezorgdheden over de wereld: over echokamers, cancel culture, onze plek in de kosmos en wereldbeelden die zo ver uit elkaar drijven dat samenleven onmogelijk lijkt. Van daaruit gaan ze al dansend op zoek naar een mogelijk antwoord.

Lucius et Haider dansent une conversation. Ils ne savent pas encore si cela se terminera par un duo ou par un duel. Les opinions divergentes, les malentendus, les susceptibilités et les frustrations ne tardent pas à surgir. Ils affrontent le combat avec les seules armes dont ils disposent : leurs mots et le langage de la danse. Ils écoutent, crient et murmurent dans un pas de deux chargé de tension. Leur modérateur : un synthétiseur qui amplifie leurs voix, les couvre ou les harmonise. Une chose est sûre : aucun des deux ne partira avant que la discussion n'ait été menée à son terme. Avant d'avoir entendu et senti qu'ils sont sur la même longueur d'onde. Parce que c'est putain de nécessaire.

Wavelength est l'adaptation théâtrale d'une véritable conversation entre Haider Al Timimi et Lucius Romeo-Fromm sur notre monde polarisé. L'un est arrivé en Belgique en provenance d'Irak, l'autre des États-Unis. Ils ont partagé leurs préoccupations concernant le monde : les bulles d'écho, la « cancel culture », notre place dans le cosmos et des visions du monde qui s'éloignent tellement les unes des autres que la cohabitation semble impossible. De là, ils partent à la recherche d'une solution possible aux problèmes, tout en dansant.

Lucius and Haider are dancing a conversation. They don’t yet know whether it will end in a duet or a duel. Clashing viewpoints, misunderstandings, sensitivities and frustrations lie in wait. They take up the fight with the weapons they have: their words and the language of dance. They listen, shout and whisper in a tense pas-de-deux. Their moderator: a synthesiser that amplifies, drowns out or harmonises their voices. One ting is for sure: neither of them is going anywhere until they’ve had a serious conversation. Until they’ve heard and felt that they’re on the same wavelength. Because it’s fucking necessary.

Wavelength is the theatrical adaptation of a real conversation between Haider Al Timimi and Lucius Romeo-Fromm about our polarised world. One ended up in Belgium from Iraq, the other from the United States. They shared their concerns about the world: about echo chambers, cancel culture, our place in the cosmos, and worldviews that are drifting so far apart that coexistence seems impossible. From there, they set out, through dance, in search of a possible answer.
