Act For The People Of Japan
Bal Moderne
The concept of a Bal Moderne is simple: three short choreographies – especially designed for people with little to no dance experience - are taught to the public by the choreographer and about twenty dance assistents. Anyone from (very) young to (very) old can join, the dances are so simple that anyone can put his/her best foot forward. Everyone is welcome!
“On Friday, March 11th this year, Japan was struck by an earthquake of 8,9 on the Richter scale. The subsequent tsunami was extremely destructive. It will take years for the nation to recover from this disaster. I have a tie with the country. I also know quite some Japanese artists working in Belgium. They have set up an organisation (ACT FOR JAPAN) with which they aspire to help their homeland in these difficult times. TAZ also wants to contribute. On Saturday, July 30th, we are organising a ‘Bal Moderne’ within the festival. Fumiyo Ikeda, Taka Shamoto and Kosi Hidama will be teaching the dance choreographies, we will make a feast of it, worthy of TAZ. The entire proceeds go to ACT FOR (THE PEOPLE OF) JAPAN.”
